Ischemia is an insufficient supply of blood to an organ, usually due to a blocked artery.

1- Critical limb ischemia = peripheral arterial disease

2- Severe blockage in the arteries of the lower extremities (hands, feet and legs), which markedly reduces blood-flow.

3- Caused by atherosclerosis >> the hardening and narrowing of the arteries over time due to the buildup of fat

4- Severe pain in the feet or toes

5- Can include sores and wounds that won't heal will result in amputation.

6- Critical limb ischemia is a serious condition that requires immediate treatment to re-establish blood-flow to the affected area.

Atherosclerosis

People with ischemic heart disease benefit from diets high in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), omega-3 fatty acids, whole grains, vitamin E, vegetables, and fruits.

Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid. It is a substrate for protein synthesis but can also be metabolized to various compounds, including nitric oxide, ornithine, and creatine phosphate, that are important for growth, wound healing.

>>> Arginine supplementation improves outcomes with ischemia reperfusion
