Antibiotic Use In Children Under 2 Can Increase Obesity Risk
Children who are exposed to antibiotics before the age of 2 have a higher risk of being obese, a new study found.
Although the researchers could not uncover how antibiotic use was tied to obesity, they reasoned that the drugs could be changing the children's gut microbiome. Several studies have suggested that the gut microbiome plays a key role in the development of obesity.
What Smoking Cessation Does To Your Metabolism
This is the topic of a comprehensive review article by Kindred Harris and colleagues published in Nature Reviews Endocrinology.
“Several theories have been proposed to explain increased food intake after smoking cessation. One theory is that the ability of nicotine to suppress appetite is reversed."
Substitution reinforcement, which replaces the rewards of food with the rewards of cigarettes could occur. Nicotine absence increases the rewarding value of food. Reward circuitries in the brain, similar to those activated by smoking, are activated by increased intake of food high in sugar and fat.
Smoking cessation also has metabolic effects including a drop in metabolic rate that may promote weight gain and new evidence shows that smoking cessation can even change your gut microbiota.
How Much Weight Will You Gain When You Quit Smoking
Smoking cessation is associated with a mean increase of 4-5 kg in body weight after 12 months of abstinence, and most weight gain occurs within three months of quitting. Variation in weight change is large, with about 16% of quitters losing weight and 13% gaining more than 10 kg.

طبعا ابدا ما جا في بالي انو في شي مهم تغذوي من ناحية دي العملية وقتها كنت سنة رابع جامعة وكنت مستحيل ابحث عن اي شي خارج الدراسة مع الضغط (حقيقي ما ادري كيف كنت عايشة ؟؟!)
